23/02/07 - FERNANDEZ WIN AT SEBRING!
Acura conducted a 12 hour simulation (race) run at Sebring yesterday in preparation for next months classic 12 hour enduro.

All three of the Acura engined cars took part in the test and although no offical times were released by the manufacturer, it was the Lola chassis that emerged victorious.

Joining Adrian Fernandez and Luis Diaz in the Fernandez run Lola-Acura was former Champ Car racer, David Martinez. The Mexican trio took the 'win' in the Lowe’s backed Lola, which ran for the first time in 2007 spec bodywork.

Speaking about the test, Acura sporting boss, Robert Clarke said: “This was a special day for Acura. This was the first Acura 12-hour race and there were no losers today. All three of our Acura sports car efforts learned a tremendous amount about endurance racing. The conditions here at
Sebring were important to our Acura engineers as well as the teams. We are pleased with all of the aspects of today’s event. We believe we gained needed experience for Acura’s debut in the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring.”

Adrian Fernandez was equally happy with the outcome of the test race and said: “We are very happy to win today’s Acura race. Our goal was to run a good pace and get to the end of the 12 hours. I think we accomplished many of our objectives. In addition, we learned about the elements that could hurt us in the 12 Hours of Sebring. We will be much better prepared for the race next month. I am proud of how our Lowe’s Fernandez team worked together today.”
