THE LOLA T720

A little bit of a mystery since there is no record of a T720 in the Lola Chassis Logs, all that exists is the Lola Press Release detailing the car's specification and, more importantly, testing reports showing that it clearly existed! The description of the chassis and suspension given is virtually word for word identical to the details issued for the T760 Formula Atlantic and the T770 Formula 3 cars as are (with allowances for different wheels/tyre combinations) the chassis dimensions so it is a fairly safe bet that all three designs used the same chassis with suitable changes for the different engines.

Additionally it seems German driver Franke Lampe drove a T720 in the 1979 VW-Castrol European Formula Super Vee Championship with some success taking thirds at Diepholz and the Hockenheimring Short Circuit and some other good results saw him take seventh in the final standings. In one race a second T720 was driven by Uwe Teuscher which indicates at least two cars were built although it must be noted that Super Vee records can be a little inaccurate as regards type numbers.
