Joe,
on another thread,
you were asking about how T70 MK III door hinges operated.

This is what it all hinges on.

This is the piece

you have been looking for.

OOps, sorry. Wrong photo. How did that get in there.
This is the forward hinge. It is in the "doors down" position.

This is the top of the door. The aluminum blocks are shims for aligning the doors when closed with the surrounding body work. They are each different and can be wedge shaped. Trial and error, with a lot of error to start with I would guess.

The pin goes into this hole. There are of course two holes. This is the "front" hole.

This is how a 3b door is hinged. Much lighter and simpler, plus the door is easier to get in and out of.

With a much lighter and simpler locking mechanism. I do still like the MK III doors, but would cringe at putting a set together and on a car from scratch. Just look what happened to Jim G. when he tried to do his !

WhoooHoo, sorry calmed down now...........

The first picture is definitely something I have been looking for, once found though it tends to cost half of everything you own.

Right, I have the hinges that attach to the door, the spacers look easy to fabricate, but the piece in the roof is what I am after. I presume the brackets are on a piece of metal bonded into the roof section. Its location and dimensions look like its going to be a real pain to replicate.

I could go down the 3B route with the doors, but feel it may be worth the effort to try and get them like the original.
Cheers

Joe, without doing too much damage, I will try to peel away the headliner and see waht I see. My big question is:
Are the two hinge points connected together with a central spine ?
If not, they could, and perhaps should be. They are not so difficult that Fran could not make them. That sounded bad. No offense Fran !
