THE LOLA T296

The first T296 was built in May 1976 with the remaining eight cars being produced at the end of the year and in early 1977. Once again it was an evolution from 1976's T294 and the major change was revised bodywork with a flatter nose and the rear wing extended noticeably further back at the rear giving the whole car a more aerodynamic appearance.

With the European 2-litre Championship now defunct the major races for the T296 were the Can-Am and Interserie Championships where the car won several rounds in both especially the latter, and Roland Binder won the Championship in 1981 and 1982 with a 2-litre BMW M12 engine.
